Once a dream home by HotRod-302 Once a dream home by HotRod-302
An old home that stands in a field I pass by when I'm driving to a friend's place.
Every time I drive by this place I have to wonder about the people who once lived there. What life was like. What they were like and what they did. I wonder when and why it was vacated for the last time. If there re any old ghosts still there. You know that at some point the owners set foot inside for the first time realizing it was their new home. They ate meals in there. Celebrated holidays there. Had children and died there. There was laughter and sadness and anger.
And no, I'm not gonna tresspass and go in there. If I ever see the owners of the property I might ask if I can get a closer look but I'm a pretty big dewd and even if I was allowed IN the house I don't wanna risk the floors not holding up.

Man I do the same thing myself. Abandoned old houses really have that nostalgia for me also. And then I walk into some place like Delphi or Olympia and I really feel the ghosts around me!

Yeah, I wish I could see more places like this. I don't know where many are and everything I do know is off limits to people or too dilapidated to explore.

interesting indeed.  there's a place near me, an old brick house about the size of the one in your picture, that's been abandoned and deserted for at least 25 years, maybe more.  it too was somebody's home - once. I've often wondered what the story behind it is, not so much because it's anything special, but because I live in nyc.  how can an abandoned building exist, for three decades, in a place where real estate is at a hyper-inflated price?  doesn't somebody owe taxes on it?

it looks like they're finally getting ready to tear it down, but why now?  I'm guessing i'll never know.

If those walls could talk, eh? It would be amazing to just know the stories these building could tell.
